Advice to other teens with food allergies:
Don’t be afraid to try out for a team or club just because you have an allergy. Joining a team can be a great way to make new friends that you will have all through high school. When I told my volleyball teammates about my allergy, it opened my eyes to how considerate other teens can be with regard to allergies. Although it seemed embarrassing and awkward at the time, I am glad I had this volleyball season to help me embrace the responsibility that comes with having an allergy.
